Programs

We presently have three programs, which are specifically designed to support the whole student (empowering them with tools to take ownership of their individual futures).

·  Redemption Youth Community Council (RYCC) – is a collaborative enterprise of teens and supportive adults, which builds character education, leadership training, workforce skills and social responsibility. The core interventions are: self efficacy, college prep assessment, career guidance and civic engagement.

RYCC as the privilege and honor of partnering with the Brooklyn Borough President's office to reinstate his youth council. In a society that often overlooks the voice of teenagers, this partnership will allow the youth council’s efforts to always reflect a primary mission, to encourage discussion of the present day youth issues and provide officials with insight on solutions that work for Brooklyn youth.

Redemption’s Tutoring Program – is provided free to students ages 13 to 19 almost every Saturday from 10am – 12pm for twenty-eight weeks (September to May). The tutors are college students from Medgar Evers College or College graduates. They tutor in the subjects of Math, English Spanish, French, and SAT prep.

It's a study hall with tutoring in the above mentioned subject areas, and a safe space for students to do their homework, focus and learn!

·  The Redemption College Support Network (RCSN) – Is a network of our alunni who are enrolled in college. They receive additional mentorship to improve the retention rates of our students as they advance from inner city high schools and embrace their new college life.  This network currently consists of advisers from Medgar Evers College and Susan Taylor's National Cares (Brooklyn Chapter).

Our Signature Back to School Event
“Get Your Mind Right” – Our youth’s “get focus slogan”: embodies the essence of this wonderful event, as it is one of Brooklyn’s largest back to school events. We provide hundreds of middle and high school students with free school supplies, an abundance of information from educational vendors, and youth performances while reiterating the importance of academic achievement, and stressing the value of education. Now having partnered with over 25 organizations to table at the event, it is always a true success! We thank our sponsors and volunteers for all that they do :)
